Mississippi MED-COM is the transfer center for all emergency transfers into the University of Mississippi Hospitals. MED-COM staff answers over nine hundred emergency transfer calls each month from hospitals across Mississippi and western Louisiana.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is the only Level I trauma center in Mississippi and the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children is the only pediatric hospital in Mississippi. Both hospitals serve as a tertiary referral center for nearly three million residents.

Mississippi MED-COM provides a single point of contact for referring providers statewide to facilitate a timely acceptance of their critical patients. Mississippi MED-COM also assist hospitals in arranging out-of-state transport of burn patients to area burn centers.
